Senior Product Designer (UX)

Remote / Contract (40 hours/week, 3+ months)

The role

We are looking for a Senior Digital Product Designer (UX) to join a small team of elite creatives at a top-tier consumer electronics brand (named one of Fortune’s Best Places to Work in 2021!). In this role, you’ll collaborate with product managers and engineering teams to create meaningful cohesive end-to-end experiences through a deep understanding of our customers and exceptional design execution. 

The ideal candidate is an all-around ace digital designer with both interaction and visual design skills. You should have a passion for empathizing with the needs and behaviors of our customers and want to create an exceptional digital experience at every turn.

What you’ll do

  • Synthesize business, product, and technical requirements into experiences that not only achieve goals, but users also love. 
  • Create systems and elegantly scale feature sets with new functionality that addresses the emotional impact to the user. 
  • Develop your leadership capabilities by clearly and succinctly articulating the goals of your team. Actively contribute (and solicit) feedback for product-level decisions via team meetings, groups, and connect your work with related initiatives across the company. 
  • Influence the product vision and strategy through storytelling, analytics, and framing problems for a diverse audience of stakeholders and executives, helping them envision the opportunities. 
  • Reliably present to large cross-functional groups internally.
  • Articulate user journeys with scenarios, storyboards and presentations, low and high-fidelity mocks, detailed interaction specs, and prototypes to effectively communicate interaction and design ideas. 
  • Lead design research to uncover customer insights and build an understanding of our customers’ journey. 
  • Proposes new solutions or optimizes existing ones. Guide UX team processes, methods, and culture to drive innovation. Encourage artifact reuse and consistency across team members and projects. 
  • Drive UX team delivery excellence, furthering internal and external UX influence and goals. 
  • Set an example and create opportunities to foster collaborative cross-discipline dynamics. 
  • Raise the bar for product quality by advocating for insights-driven by user research and investments in last-mile refinement and polish.

About you

  • 6+ years designing and shipping software design experiences end-to-end. 
  • Proven track record shipping high-quality products and interactive experiences for iOS and Android platforms. 
  • Experience with UX Research to amplify design impact
  • You enjoy working in dynamic teams and are adept at conveying conceptual ideas as well as detailed designs. 
  • You have a clear, concise, and transparent communication style. 
  • You are self-motivated and see ambiguity as an opportunity. 
  • Complete UX skillset: workshop facilitation, identifying customer problem statements, problem discovery, solution generation, concept creation, wireframing, testing, synthesis, iteration, prototyping, heuristic evaluation, competitive analysis, customer journey mapping, applying design systems, and producing deliverables for development. 
  • Bachelor or Master Degree in the study of Design including one of the following; Design, Information Architecture, Human Factors or equivalent project/portfolio experience
  • Bonus points for:
    • Experience in working with interfaces that span hardware, and/or IoT. 
    • Experience working in distributed teams and understand how to be most effective when you can’t always be in the same room as your collaborators.
